Mary Jordan has built her real estate business on referrals from pleased clients, who appreciate her emphasis on relationships, her honest philosophy and her deep knowledge of Vermont's communities.
Mary, originally from the Boston area, moved to Vermont in 1968 with her husband, her high school sweetheart, when
IBM transferred his job to Essex Junction from New Jersey. A mother of four children, Mary worked at home for 17 years before entering the customer-service field.
She worked for a decade at a local company that manufactured silk-screened clothing, first as a silk screener and then as the company's office manager. Next she moved to Burlington-based Independent Food Co., where she was employed as a meat buyer and in customer service, a job she loved for its fast pace and its emphasis on relationships. After working as a substitute in the
Essex schools, Mary decided to put her enjoyment of working with people and in helping others find their perfect homes to work, becoming a Realtor in 1996.
Her philosophy of representing buyers and sellers embodies her emphasis on trust and honesty. “I have a code,” Mary notes. “I'll help you find a home, but I don't believe in a hard sell. I want to walk down the street in five years and if we see each other, you know we had an honest and fair deal.” Her philosophy culminates in her belief that her customers are customers for life.
“My business is mostly referrals,” Mary adds, noting that she stays in touch with former clients. “Word of mouth is the best advertising.” Her devotion to maintaining relationships with clients has earned Mary both Coldwell Banker's Sterling Society and its Diamond Society awards, signifying her achievement as a top agent.
Mary is sensitive to the needs of her clients, whether it's a family looking for a first home or someone relocating for their work. She enjoys representing buyers and sellers of single-family homes, condominiums and duplexes in
Chittenden,
Addison and
Franklin counties. “I want to find clients the right home at the right price,” she notes.
Mary, a grandmother of six, lives in
Essex Junction with her husband. A devoted member of her community, Mary is a long-time member of the choir at the
Holy Family St. Lawrence Parish and has quilted with her community quilting group for many years.
