Barbara Craig

With style, patience and a sense of fun, Barbara has helped scores of clients find their dream homes, while assisting sellers in creating a dazzling first impression when they list their properties.

A dual citizen of Canada and the U.S., Barbara spent her first 10 years growing up in Ontario until career opportunities brought her family to Wellesley, Massachusetts. Deciding to pursue her love of Spanish culture, Barbara spent a year studying at the University of Valencia and later earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Denver, where she continued studying Spanish.

Having moved back to the Boston area and while juggling the demands of raising a family, Barbara pursued a love of interior design with her studies at the Boston Architectural Center, an independent, professional college with roots extending to the 1880s.

A family connection brought her to Vermont in 1991, and she put her interior design training to work when she founded the business Interiors by Design. During the following decade, Barbara helped Burlington-area residents and some commercial enterprises with their design needs. Sourcing materials from urban design centers such as Boston and Montreal became a hallmark of Barbara's work.

Deciding to combine her love of real estate with her training in interior design, Barbara received her real estate license in 2005 and the following year started working with Coldwell Banker Hickok & Boardman Realty's Chris von Trapp, one of the agency's top brokers and a member of the internationally known von Trapp family, whose story was depicted in the film “The Sound of Music.”

Barbara worked as a buyer's agent for Chris during the following two years, giving her the opportunity to learn from one of Vermont's most respected Realtors. Barbara became an independent agent in 2008, earning kudos from clients for her professionalism, market knowledge and expert advice on design.

Barbara has built long-term relationships with clients through her patient approach to finding their dream home. “I'll look and look with a client until we find the right property – I don't give up,” she notes. Clients also appreciate her ability to envision a home's potential or to stage a home before listing, since first impressions are essential when selling a property. Adding to her real estate skills is important to Barbara, who has earned certification as a negotiation specialist.

Barbara lives in Charlotte with her husband.
