With her combination of expert counseling skills and a deep knowledge of the real estate market, Monique has aided scores of clients in achieving their property goals, from moving forward with a sale to finding a dream home.
After growing up across the lake in Champlain, New York, Monique earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Master's in counseling from SUNY Plattsburgh. During college, Monique played in a country rock band called the Breeze, and had the honor of opening for country singer T. Graham Brown.
Monique realized her dream of moving to Burlington after earning her Master's, when she was offered a job at the Howard Center. She next opened the intake practice for the Baird Center for Children, a job she enjoyed for the chance to work with children.
Along with her passion for counseling, Monique developed an enthusiasm for real estate and started visiting open houses. After finding she enjoyed recommending homes to friends, she decided to switch careers. ”You can help people quickly discover obstacles or barriers that are preventing them from moving forward and be a facilitator to take that next step,” she notes.
She joined Coldwell Banker Hickok & Boardman Realty in 2007, choosing the agency because of the depth of the company's services. As a Realtor, her clients laud her “tremendous work ethic” and describe her as “smart, sensitive, savvy, upbeat, fair, ethical, instinctual, positive, gifted in this field, and very professional.”
Translating her counseling skills to real estate has aided her clients in successfully completing their property transactions. “There is an emotional component to real estate,” Monique points out. “I put so much time into it because I care so much.” That's helped Monique build her business through referrals from previous clients.
Monique often works with young couples, first-time buyers and second-time buyers who are looking for a larger home, and specializes in both condos and single-family homes.
Aside from her work as a Realtor, Monique maintains a private practice counseling young women's groups. As a devotee of feng shui, a Chinese philosophy of balancing energy within homes, Monique often helps clients using principles of the tradition. Monique is also a practitioner of Bikram yoga, and has had the honor of meeting Bikram Choudhury. She lives in Burlington with her husband and son.
