Dana Witzel

Dana Witzel believes a home provides far more than shelter — it creates strength, stability, and the opportunity to build a meaningful life within a community. That belief comes from personal experience and is at the heart of why she chose a career in real estate.

When Dana and her husband, Michael, wanted to establish deeper roots in Vermont’s Mad River Valley and raise their family there, homeownership felt just out of reach. Determined to make it happen, they partnered with the Mad River Valley Housing Coalition to secure land and worked alongside students from what is now the Central Vermont Career Center to build the home where they’re raised their two sons. That experience shaped Dana’s passion for helping the people who work and contribute to the Valley find a place to call home and thrive here.

Originally from Columbia, South Carolina, Dana spent much of her childhood moving throughout the Southeast before ultimately finding her way north to Vermont. A visit to Waitsfield quickly became something more, and she built her life in the Valley through decades of community connection, hospitality, and entrepreneurship. Dana spent years at the Hyde Away Inn & Restaurant, eventually becoming Innkeeper and Manager, while also building a successful upholstery business known throughout the area for craftsmanship and care.

Today, Dana brings warmth, creativity, and deep local perspective to her clients. Her firsthand understanding of building a life in the Valley — and the importance of having a place to call home — allows her to guide buyers and sellers with authenticity, determination, and genuine care for the community she proudly calls home.
