John grew up in Stowe as the youngest of six, learning from an early age to be a strong negotiator while recognizing the importance of collaboration for the greater good. In 2008 he dedicated a year to service joining Americorps, volunteering in the Midwest after disastrous flooding and eventually aided in Hurricane Katrina Relief in Mississippi. This experience was instrumental in affirming his belief that being an active member of a community is a necessity to grow personally and profesionally. His volunteerism continued at UVM where he led fellow students and connected with notable organizations such as The Intervale Community Farm, King Street Center's Mentorship Program and UVM.
