Stowe is picturesque New England Town located in Northern Vermont. Often considered the “Ski Capital of the East”, Stowe is known for its trails situated on the Green Mountains. RECREATION
Stowe is a great place for the outdoor enthusiasts to take on many different year-round activities. Visit Stowe Mountain Resort or Spruce Peak for some of Vermont’s finest skiing. Stowe Mountain Resort, with 116 ski trails and 12 lifts, has been an internationally acclaimed four-season resort area since the 1940’s.
Stowe is home to several hiking trails in the area—Mt. Mansfield, Stowe Pinnacle, and Sterling Pond are among some of the favorites. You can also take the Auto Toll Road or Gondola up to the top of Mt. Mansfield for an easier summit! ArborTrek Canopy Adventures offers a thrilling zipline tour, named one of the “10 Best Zipline Courses in the USA” by USA Today. There is nothing short of fun activities to explore in the Stowe area.
THINGS TO DO
There are many things to do in Stowe for all ages and interests. Spruce Peak Arts hosts a variety of concerts, play, and camps for children throughout the year. Snowmobile Vermont offers 2 hour guided tours through the Vermont countryside and mountains in 4 different locations. For a more relaxing activity, enjoy a spa day at one of the many resorts in the area. Head downtown and shop a variety of local businesses such as Stowe Mercantile, Shaw’s General Store, and Remarkable Things—all along Main Street and Mountain Road.
DINING
Stowe has a variety of well-loved local restaurants that appeal to all tastes. Check out The Bench, a rustic bar and grill serving wood-fired pizzas, burgers & smoked wings. Piecasso is a hip eatery with funky decor serving hand-tossed gourmet pies and other Italian dishes. Doc Ponds is a popular spot serving American fare and rotating craft brews. The Matterhorn is a great spot to hangout for post-slopes bar eats drinks, dancing & pool.
Don’t forget to check out local brewery, The Alchemist, and explore contemporary brewing facilities with a taproom, a seasonal beer garden, and guided tours. The Von Trapp Brewing Bierhall Restaurant is a fun place to enjoy “a little of Austria, a lot of Vermont,” with fresh lager beers and a selection of freshly prepared Austrian lunch and dinner selections.
